GIS Department

Our Mission:

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Department provides the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe with enabling technology to control its real estate development and natural resources. GIS technology provides the means to strengthen Tribal institutional ability, support economic goals, build Tribal capacity, and provide training and employment opportunities for Tribal members. GIS establishes the Tribe on the same technical footing as other agencies, thereby supporting self-sufficiency and self-determination.

Objectives:

The objective of the GIS Department is to capture, catalog, and store Tribal data in a GIS database to support planning and development on the Reservation. The database provides analysis and mapping of natural resources, utility infrastructure, roads, property boundaries, agricultural leases, homesite leases, commercial leases, residential communities, critical habitats, and others.

Using GIS technology, the Department provides analysis and visualization of existing resources and infrastructures to support planning and development.
